Liability and Legal Aspects (Refresher) - CA


The 4-hour Liability and Legal Aspects course will provide you with an overview of the roles of the government, as well as laws and regulations that impact you as a security professional in order to recognize your legal responsibilities and limitations to be effective.

This refresher course is a BSIS recognized 4-hour elective course to build your knowledge and stay compliant.


This course is in compliance with the Business and Professions Code Sections 7583.6 and 7583.7 and Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations. This is a mandatory course under the BSIS Course Outline and satisies the requirement for 4 hours of training under the mandatory section of the Security Officer Training Laws and Regulations.

Security officers must understand and follow the law at all times. In order to do this, security personnel must have an understanding of the role of the government of the United States, as well as basic concepts for laws and regulations of the land. A security officer must also have a clear understanding of his or her roles and duties in order to prevent confusion, especially during emergency situations. Knowing the liability and legal aspects of the job will help to prevent unnecessary lawsuits, potentially dangerous situations and most importantly, maintain a safe work environment. This course is designed to guide security officers in recognizing their responsibilities, proper code, and regulations in maintaining an effective workplace environment.
