The 4-hour Handling Difficult People course will teach you to identify the characteristics of difficult individuals and how to resolve situations involving them in such a way to maintain control and remain professional as a security officer.

This course is a BSIS recognized 4-hour elective course to build your knowledge and stay compliant.


This course is in compliance with the Business and Professions Code Sections 7583.6 and 7583.7 and Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations. This is an elective course under the BSIS Course Outline and satisies the requirement for 4 hours of training under the elective section of the Security Officer Training Laws and Regulations.

Security officers must often confront and handle individuals who are frustrated or potentially dangerous. Security officers must be aware of the characteristics of difficult people in order to identify these individuals and resolve their situations accordingly. Although these situations are difficult and the individuals involved are being unreasonable or violent, security officers must maintain control and remain professional in order to manage the situation. Once these individuals are identified as being difficult to handle, security officers can follow various tips that will help them change the challenging demeanor of difficult individuals. This course is designed to guide security officers in recognizing the various steps that will allow them to properly diffuse a situation that involves difficult people while maintaining a safe environment for others.
